Whale & Dolphin Safaris
Dominica is blessed with an abundance of both resident and visiting cetaceans, pods of Spinner and Spotted Dolphins, Pilot Whales, Sperm Wales, False Orcas, and at least a dozen other species.

Whales and Dolphins are sighted so frequently in these waters that Dominica is widely considered to be one of the best areas in the Caribbean for encounters with these fascinating creatures.

Our whale and Dolphin Safari starts with an educational, boat safety briefing.
Remember that these animals are living in their natural habitat, and that their welfare is our primary concern.

The 3.5 hour tour starts along the West Coast; with hydrophones being dropped into the water every 15 minutes, or 3 miles to listen for clicks, pings, whistles, or singing.
We have a 80% success rating.

Boat: 45 foot, twin diesel power catamaran. Hydrophone & GPS equipped. Shaded, with “marine head”, glass bottom port, U.S. coast guard safety equipped.

The tours operate on Wednesdays & Sundays at 2:00pm.

About The Tour:

There are no guarantees! These animals live in their natural habitat!

4. 3-1/2 hour tour along the west coast, 2 – 8 miles offshore searching for cetations.

Each time the boat is Stopped Aprox. 3 Miles or 15 Minutes hydrophones are put into the water. This is done to listen for the rhythmic clicking of Sperm Whales, pinging Of Pilot Whales, whistling of dolphins, or the singing of Humpbacks.

During this period an educational commentary is done. We have A 90% success rate. Most commonly seen animals are:

Sperm, Pilot and False Killer Whales. Spotted, Spinner and Bottle Nose dolphins. The minimum distance for approaching these animals is 50 meters.

There is no inwater activity, this is a calving area. The welfare of these animals is our primary concern!. Juice and rum punch are served on the way back to port. Duration: 3.5 hrs
